The 2030 Winter Olympics Are Coming to Courchevel and La Clusaz: What to Know Now

In February 2030, two of the three villages where OFF-PISTE operates will host actual Olympic competition, not just spectators passing through on their way somewhere else. Courchevel is a confirmed venue for ski jumping and alpine skiing, along with para alpine skiing and para snowboard. La Clusaz will host cross-country skiing, along with para biathlon and para cross-country skiing. Val d'Isère, linked to Tignes through the Espace Killy, is also a confirmed alpine skiing venue. The Olympic Winter Games run February 1 to 17, 2030, with the Winter Paralympics following March 1 to 10.

The region is already building around it. Regional investment plans point to nearly 4,900 new accommodation units across the Northern Alps by 2030, roughly 2,800 hotel rooms and 2,100 non-hotel units, para-hôtelier in the French planning sense, meaning residences, chalets, and similar private accommodation. Major projects are concentrated specifically in Courchevel, Tignes, Val d'Isère, and La Plagne, among other large stations. That's a direct signal from the industry itself that private chalets, not only hotels, are expected to carry real weight during the Games.

Mid-February already sits in the busiest stretch of a normal ski season in these villages. Add a global Olympic audience layered on top, families of athletes not housed in the Olympic Village, sponsor delegations, corporate groups, and long-time regulars who simply want to be there for it, and the arithmetic changes well before 2030 actually arrives. We don't have pricing or availability data this far out, and we won't pretend otherwise, but host regions for past Games have generally seen accommodation book up earlier than a typical season, and there's no reason to expect the French Alps will be an exception.
