Does Your Epic or Ikon Pass Work in the French Alps?

If you already ski on an Epic or Ikon Pass, you’ve probably wondered whether it does anything for you once you land in the French Alps. It’s a fair question, and the answer depends entirely on which valley you’re headed to.

This is the one that surprises people. Courchevel and Val Thorens sit inside Les 3 Vallées, the vast linked ski area that also includes Méribel. It has been an Epic Pass partner since the 2013-14 season, one of Vail Resorts’ first European partners, and the access grew to seven days in 2018.¹

Today, a full Epic Pass gives seven consecutive days in Les 3 Vallées, with no blackout dates. The Epic Adaptive and Epic Australia passes qualify too; the Epic Local Pass and the Epic Day Pass do not.^2,3 For a family of Epic holders, that’s the whole lift budget for a week in Chalet Ivory or Solace: a 6-day 3 Vallées pass otherwise costs €421 per adult.⁴

Two practical points. The days are consecutive, so plan them around your week rather than spreading them out. And the rules for collecting your pass can change from one season to the next: check the Epic Pass site before you leave, or let our concierge handle it with you.

Tignes and Val d’Isère are the opposite story. Their shared ski area is not part of Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective or Magic Pass for 2026-27.^2,5,6 The lift pass is a real line in the budget: €468 for six days for an adult, €378 for a child, and free for children under 8. A family buying four 6-day passes or more, with two adults and two children, gets €330 off.⁷

That independence is also part of the place’s character: Tignes still feels like it belongs to the people who ski it. And for many visitors, the reliable snow at 3,456 meters is worth the pass.

La Clusaz is on no multi-resort pass either. One detail if you’ve done your own research: its neighbor across the Aravis, Le Grand-Bornand, joined the Swiss Magic Pass for the 2025-26 season.⁶ The two ski areas aren’t linked by lift, so it changes nothing for a stay in La Clusaz or at Chalet Aravis.

The good news is the price. A 6-day adult pass for La Clusaz-Manigod costs €285 in 2026-27, and families buying four passes or more get the Tribu rate.⁸ It’s the most affordable week of our four destinations.

The Ikon Pass is present in France, but not in our valleys. Its French partners are Chamonix and Megève, which joined in late 2025.⁹ The Mountain Collective covers the same two resorts, with two days in each.⁵ If you’re an Ikon skier, it’s worth knowing before you choose: none of Tignes, Courchevel, Val Thorens or La Clusaz accepts it, so your lift pass is a separate purchase.

French resorts don’t all use the same systems as a US resort: each valley has its own, there are pickup times and, sometimes, a line on a Saturday morning.
